I have noticed a hissing when I start my truck in the morning. Does this every morning regardless of temp, but a little louder when cold. Can bearly hear it inside the cab, but outside it is noticeable. Mine is an 06 F350, auto,... My dad's 04 was next to mine, and his does not do it. Could it be an exhaust leak. Seems to get better after engine is warm. Any suggestions. I am going in for a free checkup in a couple of weeks, but though it might be good to have some idea. Could be a belt too. Thanks everyone, Levi
On the 03-04 trucks Ford had problems with Y-pipes cracking and exhaust manifolds leaking (no gasket). I'm not sure if it's an issue on the 05-07 trucks but that might give you a little insight on the issue at hand...Good luck with the checkup!
I have an 2004 and when I am towing with the tow haul on every once in a while it sounds like the turbo is really racing. It also acts like it is missing and blows out black smoke each time it seems to miss. Any one had this problem and know of any remedies. It only has 21000 miles on it.
Put your climate control on vent. Do you get a burnt diesel smell coming in the cab? If so, you more than likely have an exhaust manifold leak. If not, look for evidence of soot at all connections.
