Im sorry for asking this but I cant search for any info, something about being disabled so My question is what automatic transmission can I put behind a 6.9 to replace a c6, Im loking to put an unit with overdrive in it and its 2 wheel drive. Thanks
The transmission your looking for is the E40d. But this transmission is an electronic shift transmission. Meaning that it operates off a computer that is factory wired into the truck. You would probably need a donor diesel truck to have all the necessary components.
A much much simpler solution would be to put an overdrive unit behind your C6. Gear Vender makes one. There are others, but it would be a major undertaking to wire in a E40d.
Given the cost of overhauling an E4OD and the fact the overdrive unit like Gear Vendors would give you 6 gears forward, I think I would have to go the Gear vendors route myself.
Rebuilding an E4OD and the cost of the Gear Vendors should be about even in the end.
I drove my buddies 93' F250 4X4 7.3 IDI Turbo. Had a nice Gear Vendors setup hooked to a E4OD automatic but it doesn't ride like my good ol' 91' F250...
