I was wondering if this site is helpful in the 56 ford panel F-100. Looking for a good technical site to help with the build. Are they much differnet mechanically than the trucks? Thanks
you've come to the right place. Welcome to FTE. I, personally, don't have one, but some guys here do. Particularly Axracer, who's knowledge is well worth listening to. Good luck, and we all like pics.
I have a 56 panel, the drivetrain is exactly the same as the f100 pickup. (I have several 56 pickups too) There are a few guys here who have panels, mine is a stocker but they range from mild to wild.
So go ahead and pick your poision and ask away, someone will be along to help you.
Welcome to FTE.
I've got a 48 Panel and I can sometimes figure out an answer for a Modern vehicle such as your's.
Is the "Rainy State" any where near the "Confused State" that I'm in?
Welcome! We're a friendly and helpful group here.
Take a look at my gallery (click on my user name. click on gallery) for some pix of my 56 panel. Be sure to set up a gallery of your panel as well, we all LOVE pictures, especially those of us who can't read!
Always happy to see another face around here. FTE is one of the best resources you'll find for these trucks aside from a shop manual and chassis parts catalog (both of which you should invest in, by the way...best money I've ever spent)
Well you were close... Washington ! And Axracer I think I have your pic on my computer and will welcome all your comments (I think)
Well I bought my 1st panel and my last (right ) I bought it in pieces but complete. The panel is my dream rig and have wanted one since my dad bounced us kids around in the back in the mountains. My hubby is the mechanical one who builds custom 4x4 rigs and is looking forward to something new (never built one of these) He said they look fairly simple and to the point. We will see if he feels that way when we start.
It has a motor with 10K on it and a new tranny. Will need a new fender, (rolled down a hill and smack) So will build it stock for now, won't know what mods until I start drivin it.
I am the 3rd owner, and was a Cop Paddy Wagon out of Cali. The tags are 79' when he last drove it. So it has been lonely for 28 years and wants to be on the road again. So thanks again for the welcome and will appreciatte any help ! Any idea where to start lol.
I will work on pics
