when i switch it to 4x4 on the fly it sometimes doesnt engage. heres what is happining. i plow snow during the winter and last night we were out doin that and i bassically run up and down these lots in forward and reverse. so whe i get there i drop it all the way to first with it in 4wheel drive and push to the curb, then throw it in reverse and haul *** backward. and i pretty much leave the truck in 4 wheel for days when its bad out. but why would it sometimes not have the 4wheel engaged when im shifting from 1st to reverse all the time. oh and it will engage after a little bit sometimes. but not right away.
I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I'm having a similar problem with my 99 superduty. For some reason, I'm NOT able to do a search on FTE.....WTF??Anyways, when I engage the FWD with the dash mounted switch, the transfer case engages, but not the hubs. After checking everything out, the solenoid switch that puts vacuum to the hubs does NOT get any power. I checked the manual for the right fuse, and there is power going through the fuse, but NO power at the wires going to the solenoid......ANY ideas??? Thanks in advance.
do you guys know of any threads in here that talk about where the vacuum system and solenoids and all that stuff is? i wish they would come out with a chilton manual for the new trucks, but nooooooo we have to take it to ford or figure it out ourselves.
