I have a Ford Aerostar 1992 it's cranking but it just wont start up. Looks like there's no fuel going through but the tank is full of gas. Could this be the Fuel Pump or Filter issue? If so where is it located?
Ok, we need to do some troubleshooting here. Are you getting spark? Have you measured for fuel pressure at the fuel rail? The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. The fuel filter is on the underside of the vehicle underneath the drivers seat on the inside of the frame member.
We are going to need a lot more information. What motor do you have? What was it acting like before it wouldn't start? Did this occur gradually, or did it just not start one morning. Does it sputter? Does it turn over slowly? Is the battery in good condition? Are the terminals clean? What kind of battery readings do you get?
In response to your question, yes it could be a fuel pump or fuel filter, but we haven't ruled anything out yet so it could be a lot of other things too.
You know aerostars arent that hard to diagnoise but to do it you need a solid understanding of what is what under the hood and how each component works. Without this basic understanding you might as well be trying to "fix" your computer. Every aerostar owner needs to have a service manual and spend a little time reading it before he ever trys even a simple repair..........That said I and everyone here will always try to give out the best information we can and help
