I've been looking, with no luck, for the rubber strap on my 59' that mounts the inner fender well to the cab(I think they're just for vibration). No one seems to carry this. I'd like to try and make them but don't know where to get that kind/size rubber sheet. It's made of the same stuff as the radiator mounting pads, approximately 3/16" thick.
Any leads on some or where to get the rubber?? Don't think an old tire would work cause it has a 90 degree bend in it.
I don't have a 59 but if your looking for rubber in different thickness and width look in the yellow pages for industrial belt suppliers.
We buy belting for aggregate belt lines from these suppliers.
you can get it with reinforcment or plain.
If there are none listed call your local gravel pit, quarry or asphalt plant. All of these people use rubber belt lines...
I have done business with a firm out of Coon Rapis, Minnesota in the past by the name of Metro Moulded and they may have something that would work. Also there is a company by the name of WCCO Ag Belting in Wahpeton, N.D. that makes rubberized belting that may have a product that would work. I have some fall down scraps that may work for you as well. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I don't own stock in McMaster-Carr, don't know anybody who works there, have no connection to them whatsoever except as a customer. They have just about everything in general and special hardware and materials you could want. You can place orders by telephone, mail, FAX, or on-line for as little as $5. They handle credit card purchases. Service is phenomenal - one day on almost everything I order and two days max. Virtually all of the stuff in their on-line catalog is in stock. Maybe 1% of my orders get back-ordered and take 4 or 5 days to deliver.
For your rubber sheet - they have over 14 pages of rubber products from open cell foam to polyurethane. If you can't find EXACTLY the kind of rubber you want from them I'd be shocked. They even have very complete descriptions of the characteristics of more than 15 different type of rubber and what they are typically used for.
Just trust me and give them a look. I bet the group could save hundreds of hours looking for that weird bolt or oddball tubing you need for some project. Need a 1-1/4"x12 left-hand thread thin hex nut? They got 'em and very likely in stock!!!
Don't like browsing an on-line catalog? Their printed catalogs are free - 3500 pages of all the stuff that makes us mechanical types drool.
I think EARL has a point. When I was working the company bought many things from them and I've used catolog many time. I forgot about them, however I don't know how easy it will be for average Guy to get their catolog for free. It's thick and big and somwhat coastly would suppose. I think it would still be bargin at$5-10 including shipping. I have never been dissapointed in quality of goods.
I think I'll try for mine 1st of week.
