Top Speed

Hey guys,

I have a '04 xlt with a 4.6 in it. We recently had a little dump of snow. I was playing around in 4wd. I was wondering, what is the top speed i can go in 4? I didn't go much faster than 60 km/h or was that too fast?

hey alex

If your in 4 hi you can go as fast as you want. In 4 low keep it under 50k.

yea, in 4hi, the limit is however fast it goes in 2hi, but 4lo, it will only go half as fast. you can be in top gear going high rpm, and it will only go like 45 mph or so....not sure what that is in km/h......???

in 4lo, it will also shift alot quicker, because the gears are much shorter...lol 4lo is fun!

I know my brother and his buddy used to drag race there cherokee's in the corn fields after the crops had been brought in. My brother had a 94 with HO, and his buddy had just a 92 without HO, they would keep neck and neck up until the shift into third, then my brother would win out. So his buddy decided he'd had enough and put it in 4lo... I guess he whooped my brother, but man, my brother said that jeep was just SCREAMING...
