well my trans is finnaly starting to go, i knew it was only a matter of time, im realy tired of this automatic junk, but i love my truck and would never sell it, what would it cost to convert it to manual?, i just did an auto to manual conversion on my 1967 mustang, but thats much smaller stuff, what would it cost for the trans, clutch/flywheel, and pedel assembly? and cable, (or is it hydralic)?, any info would be great, i know bullydog makes an upgraded e40d but this is my 4th one, i just want something that can stand the power, thanks
Your fourth tranny!? What kind of power are you making? What other mods do you have? How often do you change the fluid and filter? I'm sure someone out here will want to know more information. My wife cannot drive a stick-shift to save her life, so converting my E4OD to manual is out of the question.
Others have asked this question, so I'm sure there are answers out here. If you can, find a donor vehicle like yours, but with the manual, and get EVERYTHING from it that is related to the conversion that you can. It might help keep the costs down.
im running a full 4in exhaust, cai, and a superchip, and i sorta have a heavy foot, im realy big into mustangs and i have 2 of em so i drive fast without even noticing it, but yeah this is the 4th trans and this one has only lasted about 25,000 miles, i just blew up the fully built C4 in my 67 so i said screw it and made it a 5 spd, and im at this point now with my truck, its a 1997 psd, engine runs beautiful and doesnt seem likes it has 230,000 miles on it! i live in the maryland area if that helps, if i could find a donor vehicle i would but i havent seen one in any junkyards around here
Brian's trannys hold a bunch of HP & torque and he warranties it to boot, ususally with no questions asked! Many FTE members have nothing but good to say about these tranny's. There are a couple more rebuilders that have the same reliablilty but Brian's is the only one I know about and would recommend.
