I believe the holdback for Ford is 3%. If your interested edmunds.com has a page that discusses holdback and the rates for the different manufacturers.
At a MSRP of $6895 for the 6.4L and assuming 10mpg for the V10 and 15mpg for the 6.4 PSD and $2.19/gal gas/$2.49/gal diesel (here in VA) you are looking at 130,000 miles as your break even point. I actually think the UL surphur diesel fuel price will probably be going up so that will make it worse. Maint costs are higher also with the 6.4PSD.

Assuming the 6.4 is what its cracked up to be, the diesel truck should be worth a few thoasand dollars more than the gasser at 130,000 miles.
And the 6.4 will not be $6895 more than the V10 as the V10 also has an option cost.
Whether or not it pencils out for you, the 6.4 Powerstroke does have 200 ft.lbs. more torque than the V10 also.

You are correct there. I did just get $9000 for my 01 F250 CC 2WD SRW with the 7.3 PSD and 177k miles trade on an 07 Expy. I didn't wait for the "expected" diesel option in the Expy because I didn't know if it was coming in 1 or 2 years and secondly I really expect the diesel prices to go up due to the ultra low sulphur content and the demand increasing because of more and more diesels on the road. I fear that the oil companies will hit the consumer hard when more people buy diesels and get better mileage and then oil company profits drop. They'll find a way to make up for it.
I read guys getting 18-20 mpg with the new 07 Expy on the hwy so I'll be happy with 17-18 mpg at 75 mph, which is what my 7.3 PSD got.

I dunno, since most of us are probably running it now, I don't imagine that the prices will change much. Other market factors and whatnot notwithstanding.

Its a possibility that the price of ULSD will be closer to the price of gasoline after the market pressures of the changeover have passed.
I have been out of the states for a while, it the price of diesel and gas getting closer again? I only get 14mpg pulling with my psd, so with a v10 I would get 10? Maybe something to consider. So a new F350 with a v10 instead of a diesel is 6k less?

It's doubtful you'd get 10 mpg pulling anything with a v10. My neighbor has a v10 Excursion and he gets about 6-8 when pulling his travel trailer. Funny as that's exactly what I get with my 99 Expedition when pulling my travel trailer. His V10 is stronger though and he can go up the hills with less trouble than me. I sooooo can't wait until I can pick up the monster 08 SD!
Just got the spec sheet for mine. F-350, SWR, CC, KR With everything except navigation, 20" wheels and the tailgate step is MSRP $54,445 dealer invoice $49,548, my cost $49,348.

I had an 05 V10 CC 4wd with 4.10's. I averaged between 7.5 and 9 towing a 10,000lb fifth wheel. Got about 10 around town and close to 14 on the highway if I stayed below 65.
I've had a V10 and I got around 11-12 mpg hwy. I got 14mpg one time when I stayed at 55mph hwy driving on a 200 mile trip. I think it is impossible to get above 10mpg average in a V10. I got 7-8 towing a 6000lb trailer. My brother has a new one and is getting around 9mpg average....
