Great pictures! If that is the rear end in question, it looks more like the Dana that was in my 48. Ford put 9" axles in half-tons from '57 on, but I don't know what other options were available.
A 9" has the carrier 'chunk' bolted to the front of the housing - your's looks like it has a removeable plate on the back.
A 9" is held on by 10(?) studs/nuts and the bottom center one HAS to be removed with an open end wrench - a socket won't fit.
Look for a tag attached under one of the nuts. If it is still there it will tell you what you have.
Sorry, I was'nt clear on that part. The axle in the pics is my soon to be replaced Dana 60 to make room for the 9". I did find the seal over the weekend at my local Checker. In the shop manual it just mentions that the f-100 had a 3300 ford axle. Doesn't call it a 9". When they tried to pull up the housing seal and axle end seals they had to pull it up as a 59' thunder bird axle in order to get the right seal. Under the ford truck they kept getting a seal for a dana 40. Butttt... Anyway, it all worked out and the thing is ready to install as soon as I can get the Dana 60 out.
