I asked the Line-X guy about doing my tubes and bumpers this last summer and he told me they couldn't do it because of the chrome. Now Kris is saying he did his tubes with a role on version. Oh, boy I think I'll find a different Line-X guy to ask.
The way I read Kirs's post, what that he sprayed only the step pads. He taped off the chrome.
Okay ..... I think I have a couple of pics of the "new" shield in my gallery. I hope I uploaded them right. The truck is dirty and the shadow of my head is in one pics (duh!) but maybe those interested can get an idea of what it looks like. Looks better to me!
The rear bumper pads have been done also. Maybe that will be the last time my foot slips off the bumper while trying to get into the bed and bashing my knee on the edge of the tailgate.

Be careful what colors you paint those bug deflectors. In some states (CA is one), it's against the law to sell or install a blue, red or white deflector.
If the paint isn't translucent, that might pass...but if it is...it won't and might earn you a ticket.
A translucent bug deflector in blue/red/white that allows light to pass thru, will mimic the lights of emergency vehicles, police cruisers, etc.

That does look like a great job.
I don't even have a bug shield, the last one I had on the truck would mess with the wind so bad that I could not use the window washers unless I was stopped or going less than 15 mph. I ended up taking it off and throwing it away.
Is that the same with your's?
Dan, how did it mess up the window washers. I would think that a shield would help make the washers work better by deflecting the wind over the windshield. Was this not the case?
Man that is NICE!!!! how many coats did you spray down?
Just one coat actually. It sets up/dries pretty fast so you have move quickly. I sprayed just enough to get coverage while keeping in mind that the extra weight may have an adverse effect if it's too much. It remains to be seen if the coating has a long term effect on the plastic.

It made the airflow do a rolling motion like this picture illustrates. Great for deflecting anything less than a small pebble, including the washer fluid trying to reach the windshield.
That does look like a great job.

This is the second truck i had it on and didn't affect either one of my trucks.

The windflow on my truck is the same with or without the shield. The manufacturer's badge was gone but the remaining adhesive looks like it is a LUND brand. The shield would distort a great deal when hit with the windblast of an 18 wheeler coming the other way before but now it distorts very little ... maybe the coating makes it stiffer?

cedman, that looks great! I've noticed that alot of you guys have'nt painted the grey portions of your grill. I got the idea when I saw a white truck that had his painted white. So I removed mine, taped it off, sanded, primed and painted it True Blue Metallic to match the color of my truck. Of coarse, it does'nt show as well as white truck did but it looks better than grey. No pics yet though.
