Fuel geling @ what temp ?

So I was wondering at what temp I should worry about the diesel fuel gelling up on me. Right now I am running the DK in the grey bottle but was wonder if I should change to the white bottle. It's only suppose to get to 27 to 29*F so didn't know if that was cold enough to worry about it. Should be back it the 50's all next week.

Thxs

I would switch... the white bottle can also be used year-round with no problems. The difference is that the white bottle has anti-gel additives and they take that out and add more cetane boost to it and call it the grey bottle.

With temps swinging from high and low... just switch to 100% white bottle (anti-gel) and not worry about it. May even use at double strength to gain a little more cetane boost.

The time to switch is BEFORE you need to switch.

Heard on the radio, so don't shoot the messenger, 18 deg is the gel point of USLD, according to truckers in Montana and North Dakota. Will be interesting to see how the first full blown winter plays out with the ulsd.

Back to the original post, if your where I think you are, keep your tank full and you should be fine til the 50's arrive. While the white bottle is for sure enough winter weather, the grey still displaces moisture and has many of the same additives as the white, moisture (which is in all diesel contrary to popular belief) is the primary cause of the gelling, so conventional wisdom would be no moisture, no gelling. It's supposed to get to 27 here tonight, but then warm back up a tad, so I did not switch, however I did fill up tonight.
