Accidental purchase

Well, looks like I bought another truck last night - sorta' by "accident".

It was on eBay and the bids on it just didn't seem to be going very high, so I thought, what the heck, I'll bid on it. Imagine my surprise when actually won it!

Its an 86 F250 Supercab 4x4 Dually with a 4-speed and a Banks Turbo. California rig, so it isn't a rust bucket. Only thing I don't especially like about it is the red interior. I bid $2,050 on it won the bid at $2,025.

Here's a link to the auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AME WN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260056436443&rd=1,1

After I get it home I'll be selling either it or my 2WD - probably the 2WD if the "blowby" (CDR?) and "tranny growl" the guy lists aren't easily correctable.

Like I said, I didn't really mean to buy it - it just kinda' happened....

So, what do you guys think? Did I do good - or screw up?

I was looking at that same truck yesterday afternoon! I had no plans to bid, was just part diggin'. I would keep the truck thats in better shape though. If you decide to keep the 2wd, see if you can swap in the turbo. Good buy in my opinion!

I hope you did OK. Looks like a halfway decent ride. I wonder why he doesn't know how many miles it has?

Road trip?

Must be a aftermarket dually.

What - so I don't make any other "accidental" buys? Or so the rest of you can have a chance at beating me to the bargains?

Correction: I'm the guy who didn't want to put a turbo on my motor - because I thought it had 200k on it - though now I'm becoming more and more convinced it only has 100k...

Well, if I read the ad right, the odo said 75k when the guy bought it, but he dosn't know if that was the correct or not. I'll run a carfax on it.

Yeah, its on the outskirts of Sacramento. Figure I can take an early morning flight down on a Saturday ($114 on Alaska Air) and drive it back home in about 12 hours....

no, that is a F250 that someone put a dual wheel rear under, and a dually box on. look at the front wheels. it still has single fronts on it. so you will have to carry 2 different spare tires.

OK, now you've got my curiousity going. I thought the dually axle and single wheel axle were the same - that it was just the wheels that were different. Don't the duallys just have narrow rims with a deep backspacing on the inners and a deep dish on the outers?

I'm hoping that's the case, because I was wanting to swap the axle from mine into this one so that it would have 3.55s front and rear. Otherwise I'm gonna have to regear the rear end on the one I just bought....
