I noticed yesterday that the check gauge light was on when you cycle the key and wait for the gp light to go off. The check gauge light stays on and so does the battery light. I replaced the batteries about a month and a half ago and it seems to start fine. What should i check, alternator? It's getting cold in wisconsin and i don't want to get stuck somewhere when the truck won't start. Thanks
Can autozone test these alternators out or does someone special have to do it. Is there a way i can test it myself? Where is the best place to get a new alternator if that ends up being what i need? Thanks
both autozone can and you can do a home test to see if your volts are around 14 when running 12 off. there are times when this is not correct but autozone will be able to test it properly and give you a accurate reading
Had autozone check the alternater today and it tested out good. Guess i will check the wiring and contacts and hope that solves it. Any other ideas why the check gauge and battery light stay lite when the key is in the run position. I never noticed them staying on before, they don't go off till the truck is started and i'm 99.9% sure they just started staying on. Thanks

Hey ...... I think I misunderstood your earlier post....Thought you ment that they stayed lit after starting your truck.
Just went outside and checked what mine do....Compared to mine ...Do NOT think your having a problem. My check gauge and battery light stay on the whole time while in run position and do not go out untill the truck is started.
Hope this helps you.
