may I ask why you are looking for replacement cables? I am curious because I want to know what made it go bad? How many miles do you have on it? I load my atv on my bed using ramps and I believe that wears the cables down...I may have to replace mine sooner than normal users
I had the cables break on my last truck while loading my ATV, damaged the tailgate pretty bad! My current truck is an 05, is pretty clean, and h as less than 25k miles on it, but the left cable has the bubber/plastic coating split. I don't want the cable to break so I figured a spare would be a good thing to have.
I think the reason for the worn cable is from the http://www.ezdown.com/ tailgate prop.

so how long do you guys think these cables last before going bad? Whenever I load my atv onto my bed using my ramps, I alwasy secure the ramp to my hitch from kicking back....but that aint going to stop the tailgate from falling off
thats some heavy atv, must have been a loaded up utility 4x4 atv. i got a sport raptor and they weigh only 400 lbs im sure a loaded utility can weigh up to (maybe over) 800lbs.
Mine was a 350lb Honda TRX250R that I have loaded 100's of times in my '99 Mazda B4000. The cables must have been rusting from the inside because there was no visable sign of any problems until the day the cables snapped.

<X style="MARGIN: 0px">I don't think there is any way possible the ezdown caused the tailgate strap to go bad. I have one on my truck. If anything, I'd say it would prolong the life of them because it's not allowing it to slam down. <XX><XXXX>I would guess it was a defect in the cable or an overload of weight on them.
It seems like the prop does not allow for enough room for the cable so it almost folds in half, causing the cable to get wedged. This seems to wear on the rubber coating on the cable?
