I have searched the forums with Google but have found nothing so I was hoping someone could help me out. I have a 1995 Explorer XLT and have been experiencing some interior lighting problems. When I turn on my head lights, the lights on my radio buttons do not illuminate and the clock does not dim. My temp/compass lights also do not dim on the overhead display.
I have a similar problem with some of the dash lights. My OD and Cruise lights (and possibly others) work fine in the daytime but do not work when the headlights come on. All other lights on the dash work fine and dim properly with the thumb wheel dimmer switch.
This has been going on for quite a while now. Every now and then everything works perfectly for a short time. I am suspecting that there may be a relay somewhere that has died and I only have 230,000 miles on it. Any ideas?
