Hi there, I've got 2 codes commin' up p1151 & p0174.
the 1151 says "manufacturer control-fuel air metering" the 0174 says " system too lean (bank 2). The fuel filter is ok....so what the heck do I check next????
any info would help....thanx
It would seem the computer thinks is unhappy with the air fuel mixture in bank 2 & this would suggest a number of possibilities, maybe something is wrong with a fuel injector, or maybe fuel pressure, or even an air leak thats affecting just bank 2, or perhaps the O2 sensor for that bank is acting out.
So a little more info might help in deciding which would be the next thing to look at.
Which engine do you have in your 98 Ranger & how many miles on it????
Do you have any driveability problems???
Do you hear any ping from a lean mixture????
Did this problem come about suddenly after some event????
I'd be removing the mass air flow.. and cleaning it up real nice.. sometimes they get contaminated with dirt or debris.. or oil (if you use a K&N filter)
Sorry for lack of info...the truck is a 4.0 auto 4x4 with 125k & jet chip...I changed the o2 sensor(bank 1 &2) about 10k ago. also I just cleaned the filter on the cold air intake(the filter was pretty dirty) it does start to sputter while going down any sort of decline---once the road levels out she runs fine?? tom. I will try the MAF---thankx a bunch for the tips!!!!!!!
