How much glycerin can be expected if I'm only maxing about 25 gallons of fluid? I want to put my suction tube deep enough so that I don't leave too much bio just lying unused. Also, can the whole process be done in one drum? Or is it best to heat and mix in one and transfer to a second one?
After the compleated reaction you will have 25 gal of bio and 5 gallons of glycerol.
I preclean, and heat in 1 tank. Mix in tank 2, and settle in tank 3. Then drain the glycerol off into buckets, and the biodiesel into tank 4.
This should work for small 25 gallon batches. You have to realize I make 4-500 gallons at a time [about 500 gal/week, less in winter] , so I use more equipment and tanks. You can also do your Magnesol mixing in the same mixer you use for making it.
Fabmandelux, you said you mix 2-3 hours with a pump(appleseed) and 30 min. mechanically? I have an appleseed and have never mixed for more than 1 hour and I've been mixing for about 40-45 min here lately and have never had an incomplete reaction. What kind of pump are you using?

I haven't used a pump for mixing in 3 years. As far as pump mixing time, I'm just going by what others with appleseed processors have posted here and on other bio forums. If you are doing it in under an hour great!
