Lonewolf, yes I do get that, and yes I can back it up w/hand calc #'s, however mine is a 7.3 NOT a 6.0, I just drove to TX and back and avg. 20+ there and back, obviously the faster ya go, the lower it goes, but if I maintain about 70-75 it will be 20+, that is my 02 Ex, it has straight pipe exh, air intake, and Hypertech programer.
My 99 I have gotten 23.8+/- on a few occasions empty of course, hook up my toyhauler 10-12.
I don't know where ya'll buy your filters, I get mine at good'ol Wally world, Motorcraft FL-1995 for 9.95 each, oil @ Costco for $42 for 6gal.
I cant say for the 6.0 what mileage they get, but I know what I get and thats not opinion, That's a Fact

Well this is all well and good But since the Original Poster is looking at getting a New PSD, his only choices are a 6.0 or V-10. What you experience with a 7.3 is of little to no value to him. Additionally the oil filters for the 6.0 cost more than they do for the 7.3, even at Wal Mart (~$15-19).

Exactly and since you cann't lease a 7.3 I guess your numbers are useless unless you plan on leasing this guy your truck!
I agree with the others figure out the costs with the lease payment and what they give you on residual, add in a little extra for 6.0L maintenance and figure out which comes out better. they'll both do a fine job for what your using them for.
[ mine, these are 7.3s, but the diesels still win out in the unloaded mileage dept. Loaded I get 10-12 with about 10,500lbs, I have talked to many V10 owners, they love the towing, but the mileage is crappy empty 10-12 maybe. If you lease for a couple years and don't like, as least ya tried, my money will be on you buying a diesel after having one![/QUOTE]
As I stated in my First quote, these are 7.3's, but it still gives him an idea of things gents, geez, the basic gist was that the diesels get better mileage when commuting than does the V10, try it ya might like it,
don't be so petty, I was encouraging him to try something different
We weren't being petty, just the fact that 20+mpg is a big difference than the 16-18mpg that the 6.0l gets. I'm not against a diesel. I just like facts to be facts and although your 7.3L is good on fuel the 6.0L seemed to have taken a hit in the mileage dept. I could tell this guy that I can get 15.6mpg with my Crew Cab 4x4 V10 but since that has happened only once (and I was trying to suqeeze out every thing I could) it really wouldn't be the whole truth, day in day out its more around 12-13, but I also drive a fair amount of hwy! I think you'll see my point.

Dude, never said YOU WERE NOT GETTING THAT! Only said that is not typical of what we see posted here. Happy for U that you get that but it isn't normal and it seems you do not have a normal setup either. I doubt he will upgrade to your levels if he leases a V-10 since he would have to walk away from most of them.
Get a grip, no one has questioned your claims . . .
I get 15.4 all conditions avg from my 6.0L CC LB 4x4. I have seen 17 on the open road @ 75 mph. The diesel gets better mileage, but not enough to offset the fuel cost, maintenace cost, up front cost, finance costs etc UNLESS you are towing heavy majority of the time or keeping the rig for 10 years.
I wouldn't even consider a diesel (after owning 2) for a lease vehicle.
The only thing you can't put a "price" on is the 6.0 grin!!!
I thought that was a grimace!!!! LOL!! Happy V10 owner here, see my signature for fuel mileage. So what if you get worse mileage, like these other guys have said, it won't outweigh the additional cost upfront or the service cost. Yeah, resale might be a little better, but w/ the reputation that the 6.0 has, I don't think resale's gonna be worth it down the road. You can buy 6.0's around here all day long, CHEEAAPP, but people know about all the issues.
ETM63, go drive both trucks if you can, get your best deal on both, than follow your gut. You can't blame anybody but yourself after that!! Good luck in whatever you do and hey, at least your buyin' a Ford!!
Thanks to all who have replied - great information that helps a lot. To follow up, I've contacted my dealer about my next truck (my current lease is up next month) and he is insisting that I wait on the 2008 SD (supposedly available for ordering next month). He mentioned that they were not taking orders anymore for the 2007's because of the 2008's being ready to order in January (not sure this is true or not but I'm taking his word for it as this would seem logical...). I've looked a little on the internet for more info on the 2008 but was wondering if anyone knew of more sites or resources that I could look at on the 2008? I'm mainly looking for pricing and option info.
Thanks for your time and BTW, I'm leaning more toward the V10 at this point.
foget the $$'s or the milage, get two shot glasses fill one with gas the other with diesel give each one the swish test;basicaly ya have to see which one you can stomach the best. for me the diesel doesn't burn as much on the way down; but i don't smoke either!
i own 05 f250 SD v8 crew cab.....is gas and no diesel...simply for the fact that i was only going for a (dream) i lov the body type the f250 has and had always from 2003-up........now i have noticed is strong but drives a bit raugh....meaning u bounch off on the bumps a lot........guys having the same problem?......but besides that is awsome....looking to try to pull with front hooks a car on parking ....just to test power......
oh and forgot to add cost me 21,000 with 30,000 miles on it....still debating with ford on obtaining my new cd player since one received was bad and the cd player in on back order from manufacture for a month now!
Hey Deltasoft: Your signature says: "Knowledge is the Key to Success"? So, how far will good grammar get me? Sheez, this gave me a headache just trying to understand what you were saying.
Anyways, diesel vs. gas in a lease? Good question. I'd lean toward the diesel, since you'll be able to turn it in after the lease is up if you don't like it. And, btw, resale value plays a large role in leasing. It's one way you don't end up owing more than the vehicle is worth at the end of the lease.
