Good news, Just got my 292 installed in my 55 f250 and got it to start Easter morning!!!! I couldn't be happier! Only waited six years to that day. However, I do have a long process yet.

I have yet another question. What thermostat would be best for a 1961 292? What one would give it its best optimum operating temp?

I prefer the 195 myself. It seems to run more economically and have a little more power. Most people freak out over one that hot, but if it runs hotter than 195 it doesn't matter what thermostat you have in it.

good to see that you got her running. Fun huh? Im using a 165 degree thermostat in mine, and she NEVER gets hot. I might have gone higher, but I've had problems in the past with old cars running hot. I like to keep her nice and cool, but I dont know which is better. Hope all goes well, nice area your truck is parked in your picture.
