Explorer Ride

Hi all. I just bought a '99 Explorer w/59000 miles on it. The wife and I like it, but I'm wondering if they all ride sort of rough or if it's just due for new shocks. Other than that, it's great.

We got an ,04. IMO, the ride stinks...too much back and forth over bumps, mainly due to the short wheel base. Highway ride is OK. My F150 rides waaaay better.

My '97 rides like a brick. I figure that's why Ford originally set the tire pressure so low. We all know what happened next....

Monroe Sensatrac shocks will help greatly, but Bilsteins are the best for the ride im my opinion.

Tire pressure and the type of tire you run can make a world of difference also.

I had a 98' now I have an 02'. To compare the two I liked the 98's ride much better felt more like a truck and not like a car. The 02' seems to isolated and soft. When I bought my 98' I felt like I could do anything to it and I did I beat the hell out of it. This 02' just feels like it wont take the abuse I am going to give it. I have a lready broken the sway bar link and sway bar up front and I have only had for 2 months. The front left brake pad was damaged by a stone and cracked. This one may not be around as long as my 98' was.
