i have a 1991 ford explorer 4x4 xlt. the other day i drove down the street and turnd it off, when i went to leave the engine didnt turn but the lights came on inside. i tried to jump it but that didnt do anything. when i turn the key all power goes dead, but then comes back slowly after a few seconds. does anyone know what it might be. the engine doesnt turn at all.
It is either a poor connection or a dead cell in the battery.
Jumping a battery that has a shorted or dead cell will not normally work as the power does not get thru the battery. Charging it will not work as it will no longer accept a charge.
So, check and clean all your connections well first. After that, replace the battery...
i finally got some time to check it out and it was the terminal on the + side that was coroded so i changed that and i also had to change the ignition fuse in the distribution fuse box. thanks for the help
