Rear window blowout

I have a 2002 Excursion. Last night,when I shut the rear hatch, the rear glass blew out in my face. I didn't slam it hard, just enough to shut it, like I have been doing for the last four years. Anybody ever hear of this? Will Ford replace it, or will I have to pay for it out of my own pocket?

I would say out of pocket or depending on your deductable, claim it.

i do know that the rear 1/4 windows are about $1000 each.. i have glass breakage on my ins policy. $0 decuctable. do you think that it is possible that you had one of the doors open a little bit. cause that will do it.?

It was the back hatch. It was $424 to get fixed. My deductible is $500. Isn't that usually how it goes?

I had the same thing happen on my 04' when it was about 6 months old, closed the rear hatch like always & it shattered. I was able to get Ford to repair it under warranty, MSRP on the glass from Ford was $1,500 and glass shops wanted about $1,000 - you got a great deal at $424.
