I have been chasing down the cause of the ABS light to remain on all the time and my tuner gave me this code. It showed no codes detected with the aftermarket program installed but when I reinstalled the stock program this code was detected. P 0603- Internal control module KAM error. Anyone know what this is and if it is related to the ABS light problem. The truck is a 2000 7.3 PSD.
Thanks
The 0603 was caused by your tuner, and it's perfectly normal so you can ignore it. Your tuner can't read ABS codes. You can buy Autoenginuity, or find someone who has it, and pull the code that way. Or you can take it to a shop and have them run a diagnostic.
chk the front wheel sensor cables.and rear vss sensor cable. Also is the tranny shifting okay?
Does your abs activate when on loose sand or gravel roads ?
chk the fuses for abs pump
I unplugged the rear vss sensor to see what it would do. No change. But I had no idea what I was looking for anyway. I looked at each cable on the fronts to see if they were connected. I'm not real sure what to look for other than if the cable is broken. I did check all the fuses that the manual showed as related to the ABS system. I think the fuse under the hood was a 60 amp and it looked ok. I will recheck all the fuses again. The trans seems shift fine. I am not sure if the ABS kicks in on sand or gravel. I didn't think to check it like that. I will do today. Thanks for the leads.
