Help! I'm having a real tough time titling my truck. On the ID plate on my 60 f-100, it says F100 0E34958. Is the vin just the last 7 digits?, or is the F100 part of it too? I live in Mass., and they are real sons-of-guns to deal with. Thanks guys!
Hi GNB-1,
The fourth character of your vin number should be a "C" instead of a "0". The fourth character of the vin represents the engine code.
"J" would represent a 223 six cyl.
"C" would represent a 292 V-8
These were the only two engine options for 1960 pickups, and there were no "0" codes for any truck engines from 1957-1960.
This is what you should have:
F10..........1/2 ton conventional
C............292 V-8
0............1960 model year
E............Mahwah, N.J. Assembly plant
34958........Sequential production number
I hope this helps you. Please let us know how you make out.
