YYEEEEEE HAAAAA thats what i like to hear, long and low, dressed in black, so shiny it hurts to look at her drive by even at night.........man i miss our truck.
thos Sterlings are okay. last time i was in the Vedder yard they had just had a brand new sterling delivered. it was an absolutely loaded truck though, every option you could pretty much get, with i believe a Mercedes diesel. i wont fault it for being a great truck, and the driver LOVED it for milkpick up, but it just doesnt have the same appeal as an old fashioned Pete, Kenworth, Freightliner, or star. theres just a whole lot more you can do to those older squarish trucks to show thats its yours and yours only compared to some slicked over anteater.....thats how i feel anyways, and again, congratulations preppy
Look into the Kleysen Group LP (www.kleysen.com). That is the company I work for in the Fleet Repair and Maintenance department. We are always looking for drivers and have a facility in Saskatoon.
Hey Pyro
May see you up in fort Mac I'm looking at a different job up there. Still not quite decided but looking, I'm supposed to go for a tour next week for one day. Fly in fly out the same day not sure how much a guy will see but mught as well go look it sounds like a good job.
As far as I know. correct me if I'm wrong. Or shoot me whatever. but don't the Kenworth and the IH have the same drivetrain so what difference does it make?
There is quite a few drivetrain options in the comercial trucks and there is only a couple of Manufacturers that have their own engine volvo, mack and international are some of them, but they also offer the other engines like CAT, Detroit and cummins. The transmissions most of the use the EATON fuller and the axles alot of them are dana spicer or meritor.
But from what i hear from friends the kenworth is the quietest.
The Kenworth W900 and the Peterbuilt 379 are the best looking ones in my opinion.
i dont feel that heavy duty Ford trucks, have looked very good since teh early days of the Louisvilles, some of the late 80's early 90's were okay too. the anteater aerodynamics make sense in a way(trying to save on fuel and such) but the older looks are real nice. that is also a bit of a problem for Peterbilt and Kenworth, as you can only make a cab that is mostly unchanged since the 40's/50's so comfortable. where as these volvos especially, are so darn quiet and comfortable. but i dont care, looks over comfort. i dont remember where the picture was, but it was one of the first Peterbilts made, and it does look remarkably similiar to the 378/379's of today. maybe someone else knows where this pic is. it was a truck and tanker, covered in a complete patina of rust. apparently still runs too. forget the name of it though
Sorry but I disagree about Louisvilles, especially the Areomax are my favorites, alot of refinements went into to them thru out the years. Sterlings still use the same design that they bought from Ford and selling fairly well.
Just my $.02 worth, to each their own style and mine was the Areomax all the way. To me they all look like anteaters, I will have to agree there.
It was too bad that Ford got out of the heavies but that`s the way it goes. At this rate they maybe out of alot more product lines than just the heavies unless they can make a big turn around real soon.
Just remember that old truckers never die, they just get a new peter built....
