You shouldn`t have any trouble finding a job driving around here or for that matter any where else, there is a huge shortage of drivers. My neighbour works for the Yanke Group of Companies and he spends alot of time in the United Kingdom hiring drivers.
Good luck, hope you stay in Saskatchewan.
yes congratulations for sure, and good luck, remember to take your time if your heading for the patch, find a job you really like, cause theres lots to choose from. im pretty jealous though, they wont give me my welding ticket until june 2008 but im pretty lucky, my name went on the waiting list for the next ticket this morning, so if your still up there in a few years, were gonna have some fun eh?. better watch out for any bridges i build
Congrats there prep. My brotherinlaw works for Calac trucking in Saskatoon and they pay pretty good and need drivers. They have health benefits. Hes paid more than me. He goes home with close to 3000 a month. More if he does the Western province longhauls.
I know of another fella that went to Clagary and is driving truck he now pulls in about anywhere from 4000 up to 10,000 a month, but he his pushing the limits in his driving I think. I think he goes over his hours. I don't know who he drives for, all I know is even with that money he seems to be always broke. He lives in motels and eats out and has a 4 pack a day smoking habit. That there takes quite a bit of money.
So if you do truck hauls in Alberta you should be able to make a very good down payment on a property here afterwards where you will not have to build from scratch.
Right on Preppy, if you can't find 'em grind 'em. The first few weeks of your new job will be where you actually learn how to drive. That's how it was for me anyway, I knew what I needed to do, but after a few weeks it was all natural. Good Luck!
