Hood ornament

Did '48-50 trucks come with optional hood ornaments? I have seen a few trucks on the net, mainly on ebay,that had a jet airplane hood ornament that looks like the hood ornament on a '56 Chevy car. Were these offered by the dealer or were they aftermarket items or did a lot of people take them off of some other car. The ones I have seen all look the same. Just curious.

Hood ornament
I have not seen any hood ornaments on these trucks. I think someone has added that feature from another vehicle. Does the airplane on the hood make the truck go faster? If it does, I may try it too!

I don't think it will make the truck go faster but could help with fuel economy by making the front end lighter
This is an example of the ornament I am talking about. This was listed on ebay. Like I said, I have seen quite a few of these and am just wondering.

Hood ornament
That resembles the ones I remember on mid-50s GM cars - when I was a kid we had something like that on a 55 Pontiac.
I've been thinking about buying one of the gold-plated winged pigs that JC Whitney has to put on my 48 F1 (They said it'd never fly!!)
