Trannie questions
Here is a stumper for me. I have a 56 F100 with a 302 in it and the original C4 having no overdrive sucks so I was wondering if I could use the tranny from an 88 Lincoln MK5 , and since the overdrive is computer controlled is there a workaround . Any help would be appreciated

Various aftermarket companies make a "lockout" ($35-$45) that lets you use a computer activated OD automatic transmission in a noncomputer vehicle. I've seen them in JC Whitney (and I think Summit) for GM TH700R4 automatics. I bet they are made for Fords, too.I don't know how they work, unfortunately.
