97 Explorer Ball Joints
Got a price of $845 to replace upper & lower ball joints on my 97 Explorer 2WD. I bought the parts for a little over $200 and want to do the job myself. I have never done this repair before, but have downloaded the tutorial from haroh.com which covers the lower ball joints. The tutorial mentions cranking the torsion bar adjusting bolt out to be able to be able to jack the arm so the ball joint will clear the spindle. I'm not fully clear on that step. Also, I rented a pickle fork set, and the parts salesman did not think I would need a ball joint C press. Any tips on the full procedure, including uppers and tie rod ends would be appreciated.
