I got into the truck today after it sat at the airport for 10 days, drove about 45 minutes on 95. Got off and went to accelerate from a dead stop and it shifted very hard, felt like it might have slipped a little before the shift too, but was fine coming off the line.
Its lifted 6.5inches with 37/12.50/17 tires. 40k miles
It shouldn't be that bad. I have noticed mine shifts harder once the fluid is up to temp, but I have a factory tech valve body.
If you really wanted to know if it's damaged, take a look at the fluid. I think it may just be learning to drive, your tires are a strain, but our 5.4l are not that powerful.
it seemed unusually hard was my concern(jolted the whole truck). I'm at college and have no access to tools, any suggestions on where I should take it to to get looked at? i.e. ford or valvoline etc.
Double A, mco. I would drive it around another day or two be sure it was a problem. You could have gotten used to another trans while it was parked, and yours just seems different.
