I am starting to get some rust and the paint is blistering on the front lower part of the bed. I also have the interior door bottom rust and the tear in the metal by the driverside window. My question is, whats the best way to attack this to prevent it from getting worse or reoccuring if it is "fixed". I tried fixing rust on my old trucks but it only made it worse. I really don't want to spend money to fix it if it will just come back again. Has anyone tried the rust bullet product advertised on this site??
If the paint is blistering, usually the rust is working on the metal from the inside out (under the paint).....best off to sandblast it and quite possibly replace the metal....there is no real quick fix for rust, only temporary patch solutions, which if you are going to go through all the work,ya may as well fix it properly
As far as under the door, just do the same thing, sandblast, see what the metal is like. If no holes are visible,I usually get a can of aeresol spray rock guard and give it a coat, and then refinish with the top coat(paint colour)...
I have aslo used a product called POR-15 for surface rust repair...very very awesome, durable and lasts a long time...
