OK i recently bought my first superduty so im not too familiar with working on them.... Every once in a while when i hit a small bump ill get a terrible vibration for a little bit but then it goes away. It feels like its in the front end but when i put it on the lift everything underneath seems tight with no excessive play anywheres...... does anyone have any ideas what i should be looking for?
You will probably have a dozen people tell you ball joints. However jack the front end up, get the tires off the ground and wiggle and push on everything. If you can move something by hand, it's on it's way out.
That link will take you to an excellent write-up on replacing ball joints. Much of the same R&R instructions will apply to getting to the needle bearings, so read it thoroughly. Included in the post are details and a photo that will show where the needle bearings are. Make sure to click on the link in point 25 for a photo showing location of the bearing.
