being efi there really isnt any aftermarket parts... you can get a little bigger throttlebody but thats about it... its not like a 302 where you can get any aftermarket fuel injection part you want and build it however you want... if you were willing to go to a carb setup and instead of a carb put a big aftermarket tbi in then you can build the engine however you want... the hard part is that the fuelie 460 heads are different than the carb heads

ive just had better luck with carbs... every fuel injection system ive ever had has had major fuel system problems... thats why i stick to vehicles made before 1979. my most reliable car was my 1969 mercury monterey... put over 10,000 miles on it and all i had to do was replace a brake line and the starter... took it across the country on vacation... ended up getting all my money stolen and had to leave it in myrtle beach... i miss that car.

yep if you were willing to buy custom dish pistons you totally could run a 545... but i always look for off-the-shelf parts... and the biggest stock dish ive seen on 545 pistons is 22cc... and with bigger 36lb injectors and a bigger cam you could probably do better than 375 horse... maybe 425-450... but the intake and throttlebody are your big restrictions after upgrading to headers

JE makes an of the shelf forged 4.39" pistons w/ 39cc dish (made for a 521 using 6.80" rods and 4.30" crank, but works with a 4.50" crank and 6.70" rods), summit sells them for 730$ a set... 400+ hp is easy if the intake flows well enough... wich I'm not sure

well... its up to you where you want to put your money... but my vote is the stroker. for the 545 all you need is a scat cast 4.5" stroke crank-scat part #9-460-4500-6700-2200, scat connecting rods part #2-454-6700-2200, je pistons part #170879, your piston rings of choice, proper engine bearings, and youve got a pump gas 545. www.cnc-motorsports.com has all the shortblock parts at some of the best prices ive been able to find, and if there are any questions im sure theyll be able to help you. also dont forget to get the whole assembly balanced at whatever machine shop you choose to do your cylinder boring just to make things simple
