Hello again fellow ford guys. I was just wondering if a 72' 360 2bbl would have adjustable rockers. When I picked up my 72' it has been in a garage for 30 years which preserved the body greatly but the motor a little tappy. Today I put 15w-40 in it and let it idle a little. Then I took it out on a backroad with a 74' sticker on it and no tags! . This was a real backroad though. The truck ran like a bat out of hadees and the heater core leaked on my buddie's foot. Twenty minutes later I had the core on my porch, ahhhh old trucks are so nice to work on. Anyways any help would be appreciated on how to get my motor quiet the cheap way for now or face the facts and do lifters, rockers and pushrods.

You have standard fixed rockers unless someones been in there before you.
Maybe add a lifter additive and drive it a while then change the oil, it may quiet down. If not locate the offending lifter, remove it (a big PITA) with FE motors without removing intake manifold, take it apart, clean and reinstall.
Worth a try vs pulling the heavy intake unless it's one of your secret thrills.

Well since Im a mechanic I'm used to doing stuff all the way. That still doesn't mean I have fun doing it, but in thise case with my truck and how easy it is working on it compared to today's cars it's a pleasure when I pop the big heavy hood of my 72'. If my motor doesn't quiet down thats what I think I'm going to have to do. Thanks for your input.
I look at it with a easy fix without changing a matching worn cam and lifter with a new lifter, may cause more problems later on on a highly used motor.
With a little time, talent, lifter grabber you may have an easy removal and replacement without pulling the intake. Feel lucky, well do ya? Did I fire 5 shots or 6?

Carl... Pickin on the new guy... We have a two week rule at work: No crap for the first two weeks, the work is enough to eat the poor guy's lunch for him.

It sat for 30 years and you've been out rodding around all ready? You'll get there soon enough. LOL
You might get by with a re-ring, but it sounds like you have other plans. Drop a qt. of ATF on top of the oil, let it penetrate and loosen things up for a few weeks. Then drop the pan and clean the sump screen. Oil has changed some over the past 30 years, you probably have a sludge mine in there.
On the other Rover Discovery forum I play with many members believe that SeaFoam additive is a must in the sump plus sucked in the induction tract, twice a year. I have seen the bearings after 100K miles of sludge has been broken loose and run thru, not pretty.
After the said intake treatment the motor smokes like crazy for miles until all the loosened carbon has been blown out. Think of what the carbon does to the aluminum pistons, bore and catalytic converters.
