289/302/5.0 Knowledge needed
Also, are dipsticks on the same side of all these blocks?
Thanks
First, yes, the later 289 and all 302/5.0s (as well as the 351W/5.8 and 351 Cleveland) shared the same motor mount pattern. There was a little difference as I recall in the early engines, the bolts being slightly closer together. It may even have been the 260 or 221, I just don't recall right now. Shouldn't affect what you're doing.
As for the dipstick, the earlier engines had the dipstick right up front in the timing cover, on the right side, while later engines had the dipstick either in the pan, or in the block on the left (driver's) side. I don't believe there were ever any engines of this family built with the dipstick on the right side.
Hope this helps...(there will be a test later!)
