I'm thinking of getting a lift for my 06 screw. I've looked at most of the lifts on the market but I want real world feedback.
I'll be towing with the truck maybe once a month. I've towed with the truck all stock and it does great will this lift be a negative or not really noticeable.
You will loose torque with a lift. That's cause you will pry be running bigger tires. I have a pro-comp lift and it works fine for me. But when it comes to a suspention lift you get what you pay for.
I agree I'll loose some power with the bigger tires. I looked for a smaller lift like 4" but I think only rancho makes it and I really don't like Rancho's stuff that much. Would only running 33's look wierd with a 6" lift?
yes, running 33" with a 6" lift would look funny. you'll have alot of space between the tire and the wheel well. if you only want to run 33", just slap a 2" leveling kit on it and have fun. plus you'll save at least a grand.
Besides the ride of the suspension, you also have to consider that the hitch will be an additional 6"-8" longer than the one you use right now and the corning characteristics of a lifted vehicle get strange. If you've never driven a lifted vehicle before, I suggest you try it before you buy it if possible.
another thing to consider is the tire flex you will also get with a 35" tire. they flex alot...did I mention alot. Even if you get a load range D or E tire, you'll still have some scary emergency braking, especially if you are towing. I've had some nasty experiences with 35" tires and my Bronco's ABS.
Just points to ponder. Not trying to scare you off, just want you to know some of the cons. Some pro's though. These trucks look wicked lifted and adds to the already phenomenal off-road capability.
The best lift for the money and quality is Fabtech, I made a very expensive mistake with the Rancho kit and was sorry that i did not take a buddys advice regarding the Rancho lift. J.D.
DO NOT GET THE BODY LIFT. You could get away with them in the older trucks. These new trucks are not safe for using body lifts. There is already alot of bed "bounce."
Just stick with a leveling kit and 33" unless you must desperately lift it 6"
Thanks for all the replies. My other truck is a lifted 73 F250 so I think I'll leave this one close to stock. I like the looks of the lifted trucks but the function goes away for my daily needs. I think I will get a 2" leveling kit the solid aluminum ones and turn them down to about 1 1/2" so the angles aren't so bad.
If your going big , go all the way. The price is about the same. I have an 05 Fx4 screw F150 with a Z series ARE cap and I'm saving for the 6" lift. I to was wondering the same thing. Many here have said good things about the Fabtech lifts. There are so many lifts out there with many different prices, but you don't want to sacrifice quality for a value. Good luck.
