How common is it to have the oil pan gasket to go? I did the valve covers already but i am still losing about a quart every couple hundred kms. It looks as though its coming from the oil pan. I know the rear main seal is leaking slightly but not the front.

diesel--those valve covers can be something--make sure their still not leaking---really--but then--rear main--and--make sure you have the right tool--or one of somme type--why--cause if you dont----leak--it has to be dead square to the crank---

I forgot a common one, the oil filter.
I thought I had an oil pan leak, the entire drivers side was wet.
After a couple times wiping it down, I finally figured out it was the oil filter.
The air was whipping it everywhere making it hard to figure out where it was really leaking at.

7.3's don't have oil leaks. There just part of the exteranl lubrication system.

If it's not turbocharged, CDR valve, under the air cleaner, behind the intake. Make sure the seal betwen the valve and the intake is there. If it's leaking there it will drain into the tranny and look like a rear main leak. Other than that, are you sure it's leaking and not going out the exhaust? A quart in a couple hundred miles isn't that much.

There is oil right at the front of the oil pan but nothing is coming from the front main seal. The oil goes right to the rear main seal which i am sure is leaking but not that bad. My entire oil pan is always dripping wet with oil. It just started to leak like this a month ago. It keeps getting worse and worse.

What about the front of your oil cooler? A lot of times they leak down the right front of the block and soak the oil pan. So does the fuel pump gasket, only from the left side.

Well i had a look at all these places and came right back to the oil pan again. Just so happens i had a spare oil pan gaskets ready to go so i began the 7 hour job. I finally the pan off after removing my entire exhuast system and had a look.
Turns out there was no gasket on it at all. Just a load of gasket maker. Pissed off i cleaned everything up, installed the new gasket and put the oil pan back in place. Set her down and put oil back in her after forgetting to put some in and there is no more leaks. Has anyone ever had no gaskets on the oil pan?

Ford/International used a really heavy duty silicone for the oil pan gaskets. You'd usually have a really hard time getting the pan loose from the block if it was the original sealer.
