I have an 03 with a 6.0 L.Has 68,000 on it .Any input on air cleaner replacement?Flow indicator says still good but would it increase milage if replaced with new o.e.m.or better aftermarket. Also if anyone has general input on the 6.0 to increase engine life, milage, etc. would be great.--Thanks

Go with an OEM air filter.
You want the one with the blue synthetic media/filter which is what came with your truck. Some people sell a "white media" (cellulose) filter that is OEM and made by Donnalson company... but it is the blue synthetic media made by Donnalson that you want... it it less prone to moisture.
I have always just gone to the dealer and paid the $80.00 for them to install. Air filtration is a big thing for these motors and having them do it (can be a hassle)... is worth it to me.
Nothing is better than the stock air filter and set-up if runninig a stock truck.
These filters can hold a lot of dirt before registering anyhting on the filter gauge.... but most say between 30,000 - 40,000 miles is where they change it out for peace of mind!!!
I am in the first stages of upgrading my rig ('01 PSD "X") and just ordered the AFE stage1 with the progard filter...I was gonna do the AIS,but couldn't find enuff info on them...I am currently running the Fram heavy duty that I got at Wal-mart for a heck of a lot less than anywhere else and it does seem to do better than the OEM that was in there when I got it...I don't know how many miles were on it,but it was absolutely filthy and a lot of black oil and the indicator showed very green..I really don't know just how well those work,so I just figger 20K or 30K and change it.. With the Pro-gard,you can clean it anytime you want...
I had the K&N filter for my '98 Yukon and it was great, but when I changed it over to the '98 7.4L Suburban it just didn't feel like it should and you could tell a difference when I went to the stock Fram..
Ford/Donaldson are being a very optomistic bunch when they tell 6.0 owners that the filter will last 30,000 miles. I replaced my 1st one at 8000 miles and got 2-3 extra PSI, then when AFE came out with the Stage I I had approx 6000 on a brand new Ford filter and the AFE got me 1-2 more PSI, so the stock system does a great job of filtering but it is restrictive!! Get an AFE Stage II Mega system, most flow available, washable filter (get the Pro Guard 7 for stopping the dirt) lowers EGT's the most and increases the MPG efficiency of the engine too! We have a sale on them right now to that'll save you some cash for Xmas!!
