Hope somebody can help. Friend has 85 pu, inline6, manual, 4wd. The dipstick is sticking out of tube about 6 inches. I cannot pull it out or push it in, nor can I twist it. It is stuck solid. The engine also is making a clanking. It was being driven on a hiway when it started. The driver said that it did not lose power. It does not sound like a tappet/rocker. The oil was changed 2 weeks ago. I am suspecting that there may be a dipstick tube that goes down into the engine that may have caught on the crankshaft and bent up and is presently knocking on the crank making the noise. Option 2 a rod has been thrown. It's getting cold and my desire to pull the oil pan is lacking. If it is bent dipstick tube I will probably do it ...if it is a rod not. Anybody have any ideas...is this possible? Thanks
Gonna have to pull the pan to see what is going on, and either way it would need to be off to get the bent tube out. The bent tube option does not sound like a viable one, but stranger things have been known to happen...
hahaha yea like my friend hadnt started his car in forever and when he finally did a mouse flew out the tail pipe. it was the funniest thing i ever saw. i guess mickey does fly.
