Does everybody that buys these trucks not ride in them before they buy. They act like 3/4 & 1ton trucks should ride like caddys . If u dont like the way they ride and handle, then buy a 1/2 ton. They drive more like cars like your used to!!!! Sorry just had to say that. 2003 F350 CCLB 4x4 7.3 2004 F250 SCSB 4x4 5.4 2003 expedition
Ditto..You bought a truck !! Inorder to do what a truck does it rides like one. If they want a grocery getter go buy a minivan or some jap crap truck. They must have forgot what kind of truck they bought in the first place, the only real truck out there...A FORD Super Duty.
Totally agree, the stiffer ride is one of the reasons I prefer the Super Duty trucks. The f-150 would be more practical for me since I don't haul or tow often and hardly ever more than what a f-150 could handle, but they are just to car-like for my tastes anymore.
The dually rides way better than the F250 and slightly better than the Excursion. Then again got 50 psi in the rear bags of the F250 with only a few hundred pounds in back.
Before everyone jumps on the "bash those that complain about the ride in their 1-ton" bandwagon. Try to understand that there are folks that drive these trucks in places where the freeways are so bad (Southern California) that riding in the truck is literally like trying to ride a bull in a rodeo. They may not know that these trucks don't ride like that normally. It's so bad I've cracked a rim, blown a pinion seal, and caused my center consoles mounting screws to crack the center console. All caused by the bouncing on the SoCal freeway system. I won't even drive my truck to L.A. anymore it's so bad. They may also have been one of the "lucky" ones that got a defective rig from the factory that's not riding right. All I'm saying, is that before we go-off on someone about these trucks not being "Caddies", we should probably find-out if they really do have a problem.
Now, for someone to say that these trucks don't have a relatively smooth ride (relative to their predecessors) on a smooth road w/no mechanical problems ('cause for those of us that drove 1-tons before, these do feel like Caddies), means they would have had to come from a luxury vehicle straight to a truck. In which case, bash the heck out of them.
c'mon now..you want a really good ride try driving a 1981 International Cab over with no trailer or an empty trailer...Thank god (or the company) for my 2004 Kenworth TH800. I've stopped stuttering and my vision is now clear again.
Most of the ride issues are caused by the fact that you have LT rated tires and if you follow the recommened air pressure, some will be as high as 80psi, you would think that you were riding on solid wheels. therefore if your not loading your truck very often and you would like a little better ride, adjust your air pressure to suit. I wouldn't suggest going lower than 40psi on 10ply (E range) tires though. If you have 8 ply (D range) you might get away with 35-40 but beware if you load it you can overheat the tires and they will blow. Plus towing with soft tires is a real pain. Adjust to your driving needs and work from there.
