My truck did not come with the fogs from the factory. for those that have them, how are they turned on inside the truck?? is it a separate switch from the headlights like a pull out or something else?
Not sure how hard they are to install. Just thought I would let you know that my F250 came with this option and the fog lights only work when the headlights are on dim. I would have perfered they work with out the headlights being on. I can understand why they don't work while the hi-beam is on. I did add addition fog lights but I tied them in with the same switch.

Its not hard at all. You get a new switch with the fog light kit and then splice some wires from the fog light harness into the back of the connector that plugs into the switch.

i dont want a new switch, i wanted it hooked up like factory
Sorry, let me clarify. I was referring to a new factory headlight switch.
oh ok cool. is the dash hard to come apart?? and is there a way to modify the switch so the fogs can be turned on by themselves? i used to have a dakota and someone found a way to do it.

Hmmm on my 03 I can have the fog lights on as long as i have my amber running lights on. Its not needed to have the headlights on for the foglights to work on my truck.
[QUOTE=CobraF250]... and the fog lights only work when the headlights are on dim....
Can anyone explain why they do this? Maybe I should start a new thread with this, but
When you REALLY NEED the fog lights you don't WANT the upper lights on at all due to the glare situation.
Another factor is that in some localities it is illegal to use anything other than low beams when approaching traffic from front or rear (and I personally despise four lights coming at me from either direction!). There are absolutely no--zero--state, county, or local police cars around here with anything other than standard headlights and I think that may be a "reflection" of the V & T law (even though they never enforce that part).
When I install my fogs, they WILL be on a separate switch. I'm shopping for a lighted rocker type switch for that purpose.
I don't know why. I guess I would ask other readers if theirs work like mine??? I can have my headlights on dim and the fog lights on and if I brighten them the fog lights go out. I can have my headlights on dim with fog lights on and turn the switch to amber lights and the fog lights go out. But I totally agree, I can't stand to have a truck (car) approach me or come up behind be with all on.

i have seen SD driving with there park lights and fog light and not there regular light after dark thinking that there real light were on...so i flashed them but did not notice. so i have seen it...
also i have a xl with no fog lights but my switch pulls out (only with the headlights on not with park lights) as if to turn on the fog lights that i dont have. you might check to see if yours is like that or maybe mine was replaced and it happened to be set up for fog lights?
My switch pulls out as well. Does anyone know if there is a way to modify the existing switch or what pin the fog light uses on the back of the switch. On my 00 it has two separate harnesses.
