93 Ranger A4LD problems
I just rebuilt the A4LD in my 93 Ranger. It shifts perfectly, but sometimes it will not engage in any gear,forward or reverse. This only happens at random,but seems to happen only when it has set awhile. Sometimes it will do perfectly, the next it might not . It will finally go in gear after running for 4 or 5 minutes, and when it finally goes in gear it goes in nice and firm, after that it will go in gear perfect every time. I can drive it and park it,let it set for 30 or 40 minutes and most of the time it will go in gear fine, but 1 out of 5 times it wont. I pulled it out and went through it again but found nothing visually wrong. I spared no expense when I rebuilt it. New bands,clutches,steels, OD drum, new pistons,everything. It has me thinking maybe a problem in the vavle body.Any ideas would be helpfull.

Could be a sticky shift valve or need general valve body overhual, but when you do a valve body be VERY VERY careful when cleaning the bores the valves slide in, if you use an abrasive use it lightly because the bores need to be just perfect so they dont have play or the valve will leak n not function properly.
