Exclamation Air Cleaner Help

Ok, I have a 351M with edelbrock performer intake (2171 i believe) and a 1406 Carb. The stock air cleaner didn't fit real well on this carb, nor did some of the fittings because of the different manifold (heat riser pipe etc). It also looks like its been through a war. Anyone know where I can get a snorkel style air cleaner that I can route to the standard air system? I have one of those awful open air cleaners that just sucks hot air for all its worth. Help?

Oh, almost forgot. Engine is in a 78 tbird.

A local salvage yard should have one that will fit. A Ford car or truck will fit.

Actually to clear an Edelbrock carb you will need a Mopar or GM aircleaner assy. The OEM Ford units hug the OEM carb a little too closely. A carb spacer ring could be used also. I have seen them but not recently. I just remove the Mopar/GM snorkel and rivet the OEM Ford snorkel on the new airbox with an appropriate cutout. Snowmobile track rivets look real good. You can get Mopar or GM airboxes that use a much larger filter also. After you get one snorkel on you just might want to go for a second off a junkyard vehicle. Put a deflector plate inside the aircleaner for the second snorkel. Make sure you keep the OEM heated air system functional or you can get carb icing.

A local speed shop. Holley makes a couple different thickness ones that fit the standard Holley, Ford, Edelbrock/Carter carbs.
Part number 17-14 is a 3/4" tall spacer and 17-13 is a 1 3/8" tall spacer. I have the 17-13.
