Water in Fuel
I tryed to search but the site wont let me, I was able to search last night ok.
Was there water in the fuel when you drained it a couple of weeks ago?
If there was water in the system then yes, there may still be some in the tank. If there was no water present when you drained it a couple of weeks ago, and if there is no water now when you drain it, then the WIF senor in the filter housing assembly may be corroded and sending a false signal. This is a documented problem with the WIF sensor in some trucks.
Hope this helps
It did have small amount of water in the fuel when I drained it the first time. I will drain it again tonight and see if it has more. I think the fuel filter should be replaced at 15000 miles and I am just under this. The drivers manual says not to drive it in this condition, the dealership tells me to drive it until I almost empty the fuel tank.
If there was a slight bit of water when you did it two weeks ago.. there is probably more if you have not filled up again... as condensation continues to form.
The job of the HFCM filter is to filter and seperate.... the idea is different than a gasser which will burn water mositure along with gas.. but in a diesel it will ruin your injectors.... so the only thing to do is keep draining it until gone.
1) I would keep filling the tank and keep it as full as possible to reduce condensation in your tank.
2) Add Powerservice fuel additive to help in water seperation (double dosage).
3) Keep draining until all water is eliminated and change filters (2 of them) on or before 15,000 miles. Changing filters will not reduce or stop the moisture issue, but a clean filter will seperate water better to ensure none gets past them and into your injectors.
Here is what it should look like.... check out this thread!!!!

If different looking... then return... then go to local Int'l truck shop and buy for $33.00 or so. You want part number 1847170C92.
WIX is not OEM and costs more.... so why buy and/or use????

Head down to your local International dealership. Pick up:
1847170C92 - fuel filter kit
2589259C91 - replacement HFCM drain plug
The fuel filter kit is an OEM Racor pair with the AquaBloc media and should run you about $32/kit. The replacement plug gives you a knurled nut on the outside of the HFCM, so you can remove it with your fingers or (a pair of channel-locks, if it gets stuck or corroded in place) instead of an Allen wrench.
