If it's a shop, can't they build you one out of a core?

otherwise... I know LMC truck sells them and I'm sure others do too.

Good luck.

Regarding LMC truck; I ordered some parts from them, small simple parts, and they sent the wrong stuff. I will be avoiding them in the future.

Regarding the radiator; I just got my radiator back from a real, old tyme radiator shop (Fry's Radiator in Boise, Idaho). My heater core is getting reworked as I write this. This is at least the fourth and fifth job they've done for me.

I spoke to them about a radiator for my '55 Chevy. The core was shot. They said they could install a heavy duty two, three, or four core using the original tanks. It would cost about the same as buying a new radiator. That's the kind of thing a real radiator shop does. (BTW, they explained 'heavy duty' as a type of core that has ridges inside the tubes to increase the wetted surface area inside the core. Extra cooling.)

My heater core? It was shot, so they said they would use the original tanks and install a new core in that! A new heater core costs $100 to $125 mail order.

Best of luck,

Lots of catalogs list the replacement radiator same as stock. An interesting alternative I read about somewhere (here?) was swapping a full-size mid-70's AMC Ambassador or Matador radiator. I think this is a more efficient cross-flow style, and reportedly slips right in. Anybody heard of this one? Seen it in action?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jun-02 AT 11:16 AM (EST)]I don't know how it would work for your truck but, in my '51 w/302 I installed a radiator from a full size Dodge van. Dropped right in, inlet, outlet and tranny lines right where they needed to be. $70.
Good luck & have a fun run!
