I have a 460 with the Holley projection TBI and I need a TFI distributor to interface with the ECM. I was told I could use a 351 W TFI and just change the gear. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Had to reregister as a new user my acount went nuts. I have not been able to find a TFI distributor for 460 anywhere. Have any suggestions where to find one.
your local autoparts store would be a good place to start just ask for a dist for a 92 or newer F350 with a 7.5L in it. That is of coarse if you can't find one of those in a wrecking yard.
Yeah, I have already tried. Apparently one company rebuilds distributors for about all the part stores around here and they don't offer a TFI for a 460. However a 351 W is available. I even tried after market. Ford wants $850.00 for a new one. I can take my 460 distributor in and compare to a 351 W and go from there just didn't want to have to order one in without a pretty good Idea it would work.
Not sure if I will have time tomorrow but I just broke a 460 down for parts and I have a 351W roller that will be broke down for parts as well sitting right next to the 460. if weather permits I will compare the two dizzys for ya.
I stuck the 351W dizzy in the 460 block and it went right in. The seal is tight around the block opening just like it should be. The 460 is of the 80 something and the 351W dizzy I used was from a 94 model van motor. The 351W was did have an over all longer shaft at the end where the oil pump rod fits in but that didn't seem to be an issue. The dizzy cam gears are different.
