It's possible. If you're going manual, you need to buy a parts truck like yours, 4x4, M5R2 or ZF if you're lucky. Changing the transmission is going to change the driveshaft lengths, so the more useable parts you find in a donor truck , the less money you'll spend.

An E4OD rebuild is high, but is it really worth the time and aggravation of changing all the brackets, driveshafts and wiring - and column-if you go 5-speed? If you don't mind the automatic, a quality rebuild for the E4OD is the ticket.

Just be aware that there is no such a thing as a F150 351 with a 5-speed from the factory. You may want to look for an F250 so you will get the heavier-duty ZF trans. The Mazda is probably a bit light for the 351.

I had a 95 F150 4x4 short bed which I purchased new . It was 351 w/5spd manual. I have thw window sticker here somewhere to prove it. And had a mazda 5 spd behind my 93 F150 with 351 which I beat and towed with it and held up fine. sold at 112000 miles and had original clutch. But a F250-350 Zf would be a better in long run. You will need manual trans collumn, ecm ,shaft, crossmember, linkage, cylindermounts, ect. I now have a E4od and its the last auto I'm buying. With no manuals in newer light duty trucks I might be running this body style a long time. Good luck

Are you dead sure it was a 351? I've NEVER heard of a F-150 with a 351 and manual tranny. Unless Ford slipped the ZF in that model. Ford never put that M5OD behind the 351 because they knew it wouldn't hold up to it for very long, like 200,000 miles.

Hmm wierd.

Agreed - I have never seen one nor heard of one, except for the very rare 1988 F-150/351/ZF combo. But definitely not in 1995.

lostin90s - can you scan or take a pic of the window sticker? I'd love to show it to people (like me).

My neighbor two doors down has an F-150 with a 351 and stick shift as a deer lease truck...it doesn't do a whole lot, I'll see if they can get a pic of it.

Andy- How would you like to get ahold of one of those 88's? I've looked my tail off and can't even find anybody, anywhere who has one.

Pilot- Aren't you supposed to be on the Ranger forum!? Haha j/k buddy how ya been?

I think the reason why Ford didn't offer the 351/ZF combo in the F-150 (except for the rare 88 model) is probably because they could have made more money by only offering it in the F-250, due to them selling for a little higher price than the F-150. If Ford would have offered the 351/ZF combo, then people would figure they might as well get that instead of the 250. I think Ford was just trying to eliminate people trying to overdo these trucks by trying to tow or haul too much, thinking it will be ok because it has the 351 and heavy duty ZF tranny.

Make sense? haha.

I would also like to see such a window sticker because that is not my understanding at all. I believe the reason Ford did not offer the 351/5-speed combo is that they reckoned not enough people would buy them. They probably based that on how many bought that setup in 1988, which I wasn't even aware of. I knew there was a ZF offered in 1988, but I thought it was only with the 4.9L. In any case, it wasn't a big seller AT ALL so they dropped it.

Back on topic, I will be doing this swap to my '91 in the near future. I have secured a parts truck with a ZF in it and a Mazda in the bed, so I get my choice. I think I'll try the ZF first and see how it drives. If it's a dog off the line, I may swap to the Mazda after I repair it.

The 95 truck was a custom order(maybe he put 5 sd in ) for the dealer owner himself it had every heavy duty option as well as larger wheels 32:11.50 . Was never titled till I bought it. He got a crew cab F150 351 5spd . (it was sweeeeet) I'm in search of sticker I've only moved 5 or 6 times since then but I keep that sort of stuff. It was a 5.8 corse it only lasted 56000 miles but trans held up. I wish I knew what trans was ZF or mazda? Got me wondering .

A 1995 F150 Crew Cab would not be a factory Ford anyway. Those were custom jobs outsourced to someone else.

The ZF would have a "granny" low first gear so you would normally start out in 2nd or else shift to 2nd very quickly.

Yeah, it sounds like a Centurion conversion. Also, with the 32" wheels it sounds more like an F-250 to me, those tires won't clear a stock 1/2 ton suspension.

This truck definately has me lost now hahaha. A 95 crewcab F-150 with a 351/unknown manual tranny that has 32" tires on what we know to be a stock half ton suspension.

Call me crazy, but who wants to lay bets on the fact that someone probably threw 1/2 ton emblems on a 3/4 ton truck?

Lostin90's and , can you identify the rear axle, whether or not it has the hubs that stick out past the rear wheels a little bit (semi floater), or hubs that are (for the most part) flush with the wheel (full floater.)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone by the way!
