Gents, and ladies, probably should post this in the other forum, but the smart ones are in here.......
My electronic 4x4 wont engage the 4x4 in 4x4 high. If you select it to 4x4 low, it works. I dont get the air blowing out of the defroster vents, so I dont know if to suspect a vaccum problem or not. When you turn on the key, you can hear the vaccum pump working.
Does the 4X4 light come on at all on the dash? IIRC when the light goes on in the cluster that mean that the transfer case was switched to 4x4 and that ur problem would be in the hubs themselves.
Put it in 4x, jack the front axle off the ground (put it on jackstands so as not to squish yourself, set ebrake or chock rear tires for the same reason). Now try to turn the front driveshaft. If the shaft turns it's on the tcase side (shift motor), if it's locked up I'd say a hub. Since you have 4-low I'd guess the hubs are fine.
How are you confirming that 4-low is working?
I would suspect the switch itsself has gone south if the low range is indeed working normally. If you dont get it figured out today I'll post the pinpoints tonight when I get home to my manual.
