This is just a good read and the whole site is good. I took my truck to Chuck and he was able to diagnose my truck in about 10 minutes with a flash light, and a rag. He gave me a $6500 bill of things that sould be adressed so I fixed them all myself and saved lot of money and my truck is Almost like brand new even if it has 150K. He talked to me for about 4 hours on a personal level and I recommend him for anyone in the Seattle area because he REALLY knows his trucks.http://thepowershop.com/index.php?pr...troke_Troubles
my folks got a banks kit from them about 6-7 years ago, even though I'm a banks dealer. I was 3k miles away, so they did it there. Darn them for buying a bigger trailer so far from home! Said they had a good experience, still have the truck and have had no problems aside from some intercooler boots in 7-ish years.
I felt that way when was looking for a transmission, because all the good builder are closer to you. I'm locky to find this guy because he's in enumclaw and that name alone suggust that the out in the sticks. Well not so anymore but it's a town you drive throuht to get to the mountains.

The famous Jody is in Ashville? 4 hours away? I thought (I don't know why) he was out west in Texas. Let's see... cash out some of my life insurance...take the truck with the motorcycle in tow... Jody does his magic... I ride the mountains all day/week... I'm in trouble now!

Just read Chuck's (the Power Shop) message to all PSD owners -
FYI, at approximately 10,000 miles I had 1 bolt fall out and another loosen. At that time, those bolts were a hot topic with PSD owners so I was on the alert to check them regularly.
This problem had been going on long enough for Ford (or Garrett the turbo mfgr) to finally come up with a solution.
There is a retrofit bolt kit available to solve this problem. At the time my bolts came loose, my Ford dealer hadn't heard about the available of a Ford kit. I gave them the Ford part no. and they had the new bolts installed with a week.
No problem since - now at 67,000 miles.
It pays to keep good records.
This from June, 2001
This is the "official" message from Ford -
SSM#14753 7.3L turbo bolts loose;-
(New bolt kit released) Some 2000-2001 Super duty F-series, Excursions, and E-series equipped with a 7.3L DIT engine may exhibit loose turbo bolts on the turbo housing. Typical symptoms resulting from loose bolts include, lack of power and and oil leak.
To service, install new bolt kit part # 1C3Z-9G486-AA (four revised bolts in.....................
I must have cut off the end of the bulletin, but the important information is there.
Darn it! All the good truck guys are in Seattle or Texas! Is there no one on the east coast? Maybe right here in North Carolina?

Snyder's in Snow Hill is supposed to be as good as there is with our PSD's, so I'm told. I've never been to him but have had a lot of friends highly recommend him. I'll get some contact info, if you want it.
Off topic---
Franklinton huh? Do you know Stump (Gary Murray), 5-6 or the Big Flopper?

Well, I don't know those names but I may know them when I see them... I know lots of folks this way as no one is worse at names than me.
I'm from NC too - Greenville, NC. I've heard of a fella named Jeff Tyson in Snow Hill who is supposed to be really good with PSD. Is that the same place as Synder's. If it ain't how about PM me some contact info. It would be much appreciated

That is the one. For some reason I had Snyder on the brain this morning. Like I said earlier though, I've never been to him but he comes highly recommended.
Cedman,
I used to work with Super Grit Cowboy Band many moons ago and just figured you may know them. Stump (Gary Murray), is also known as Gary Murray Electric. Just a thought that you may have known them.
